I’ve used home inspectors many times for past home and condo purchases. Compared to all the others I’ve used, Barry sets the gold standard. He has all the right equipment, such as infrared heat cameras and Radon gas detectors, to do a thorough and professional job. His report was ready for us just a few hours after the completion of the on-site inspection. And something totally unexpected, he even made note of the major appliance models and sent us a report indicating that there were no recalls on those appliances! He’s open to future calls for tech advice, and has customer guides for typical maintenance schedules and repair costs. Honestly, I don’t think I could have asked for more. We hired Kyle for our initial home inspection, and then, since we were first-time home owners, we hired him to do another walkthrough a few years later, a service that he offers at half the cost of the original inspection (with no report). Both times we found him easy to work with and very helpful. He took time to answer our questions and the report for the initial inspection was provided the same day. Plus they also send a monthly email letting you know if there have been any recalls issued for any of the appliances in your house, and gives some tips of what home maintenance tasks you may want to do that month. I would highly recommend them.

The report we received from him was very helpful and gave us an understanding of the general condition of the property. The home inspection was adequate, however there was a problem with the bathroom that was not discovered. I was told that this was not something he could have found out because the house was not occupied at the time. I appreciate the follow-up that Justin did with us. Unfortunately, the damage resulted in a claim against my homeowners insurance for an entire asbestos abatement and it has been months since we’ve been able to use that bathroom.I was told to make a claim through the third-party warranty and when we attempted to do this over the last several months, we’ve received no response whatsoever. We’ve received no guidance other than to email them. There’s no contact information for the third-party warranty people aside from email address.If a person is going to carry a third-party warranty as part of their services, it should be easily accessible. Despite having paid for the inspection, I am completely out the cost of the deductible for my homeowners insurance.

The process of buying your first home can be quite overwhelming, but Gavin made it such a great experience!!! My friend shared with me her experience of another home inspection company and how horrible it was so I was very nervous. Another company did not go through the report at all with her and didn’t explain anything when asked. They would just respond with “it’s in the report”. My friend told me to try to attend a majority of the inspection so that I could ask questions along the way and that’s what I did with Gavin. Gavin explained everything to me in detail and didn’t seem annoyed at me when I was asking multiple questions. He was so friendly and had joined in on conversations with me and my realtor. We were in the process of buying a farm. Steve came out to do our inspection and not only did he take his time and go through the whole outside and inside of the house but he was very detailed in his inspection. I recently bought the house in Calgary SW area. Looking at the houses with the realtor usually takes about 1/3 hour per house. At that time, we as potential buyers, were neither qualified nor focused on the potentialproblems which may exist in the house. We were aware of that and we were aware that not doing the house inspection could potentially introduce significant additional cost in required repair after taking possession of the house, and that could greatly out-weight the cost of doing the house inspection. This is the true value of the qualified inspection. Our inspector Justin had the equipment and he knew where to look for potential problems.
