Environmental Services. We’re your one-stop shop when it comes to protecting your biggest
investments!
We’ve outlined five of our key inspection specialties focused on environmental services below.
Radon survey
Testing for radon in your home about every two years is a proactive measure to ensure that
levels are safe and the health of your family won’t be compromised.
Virtually every home in Canada and the US has some radon, but the levels vary from home to
home even if they’re situated next door to one another. High levels of radon increase your risk
of developing lung cancer. Almost 90% of lung cancer deaths are caused by smoking. Radon
exposure is linked to approximately 16% of lung cancer deaths in Canada and is the second
leading cause of lung cancer for smokers, says Health Canada.
There are two common types of radon tests – a presence test and a more comprehensive 90-
day test.
If radon levels in your home are above the Canadian guideline, Health Canada recommends
that you hire a professional certified under the Canadian National Radon Proficiency Program
(C-NRPP). Lowering radon levels in a home requires specific technical knowledge and skills to
ensure the job is completed properly.
A radon test is an inexpensive and simple way to bring you peace of mind for your existing
home or a prospective purchase. We’re here to help!
Air quality survey
Obtaining regular measurements of your home’s indoor air quality (IAQ) is a vital step in
ensuring the health of your family.
We provide fast and accurate measurement that’s also cost effective. You’ll receive a summary
report, which will help you determine the condition of the air in your home and whether any
areas require additional sampling.
Mould testing
Mould sampling and lab work is expensive and often unnecessary. Our air quality and mould
detection survey provides a thorough and inexpensive alternative.
Because you can’t often see or smell mould and air contaminants, IAQ testing measures
particulate matter, including mould spores, in every room of your house, pinpointing any
problem areas.
WETT inspections
It’s in your best interest to have all wood-burning appliances inspected by a Wood Energy
Technical Transfer (WETT) specialist.
A WETT inspection will ensure that each system is correctly installed and operating properly,
and that it poses no threat to your home and family. Your inspector will also advise you on how
to best maintain your system to ensure your family remains safe year after year.
When using wood-burning appliances, the potential for harmful pollutants to be released into
your home as well as combustible materials to ignite is increased. That’s why it’s essential to
have these systems regularly inspected and properly maintained.
Pest control
More and more homeowners are turning to environmentally-friendly options to address
everyday issues within our homes, including pest control. Let’s face it, no one wants to deal
with insects, let alone destructive rodents that can wreak havoc on everything from wood and
insulation to electrical systems. But having a safer way to deal with pest problems can set our
minds at ease that we’re doing everything we can to protect our families while getting rid of
and preventing nuisances from entering our homes.
There are several benefits to avoiding chemical solutions. Not only are organic pest control
products environmentally friendly, but they’re also extremely effective in diminishing any signs
of bugs, insects and other pests, while also leaving less side effects behind in our homes well
after the pests have been exterminated.
When we conduct a home inspection, we’re always keeping our eyes open for signs of pests so
we can relay the information back to either the homeowner (during a pre-inspection) or the
potential buyer.
Regardless of the type of specialty inspection you require for your current home or a property
you’re thinking of purchasing, we have you covered!
